Soil Prep, Seed Sprouting, Mulching, Oh My!
We have been working around the clock this spring to ensure another bountiful growing season and continued availability of our hemp products, and wanted to fill everyone in with some quick updates!
Many days in early May were spent spiffing up our permanent raised beds: adding thick layers of farm-made compost and mulch for natural fertilization, to keep moisture in, and suppress weeds, plus topping off woodchips in our pathways.
And over the past two weeks, we’ve been busy germinating different strains of our organic hemp seeds in special soil blocks, all nestled within our small, protective greenhouse. We use only organic potting soil as these seedlings are forming, and the addition of a specialized mycorrhizae (fungal) inoculant will give these plants more vigor as they can better source the nutrients they need from their surrounding soil. Soon these gals will be vigorous enough to find their new home in our sunny outdoor beds, where they’ll grow the beautiful, cannabinoid-rich flowers used in your favorite Northwoods Botanicals products.
And a reminder for those who may have missed the last e-newsletter: our local farmer’s markets have just started (or will be soon). Check out our write-up on locations and times here.
We are excited to keep at it and continue to serve our customers with our authentic and lovingly grown cannabinoid products!
