Our Hemp Farm’s Autumn Journey: From Seedlings to Harvest
As summer fades and the autumn breeze sweeps over our hemp farm, we find ourselves knee-deep in the bustling harvest season, a time when we put forward our efforts to meticulously gather the bounty of our federally licensed hemp crop. These vibrant hemp flowers, nurtured from tender seedlings planted in late April, have matured into “legal adults” after passing rigorous USDA testing. What excites us the most is we’ve achieved this growth without resorting to harmful pesticides or herbicides, and with minimal irrigation even in the face of this summer’s drought-like conditions.
A Symphony of Sights and Scents in Our Fields
Walking through our hemp fields is a sensory delight – a kaleidoscope of colors and an orchestra of fragrances that each cultivar brings to life. Every plant is thoughtfully examined for ripeness and quality, ensuring that only the finest specimens are hand-harvested. This meticulous process marks the first step in a journey that will transform our harvest into the high-quality CBD (cannabidiol) and CBG (cannabigerol) products Northwoods Botanicals has become known for.
Craftsmanship in Drying and Curing
Following the harvest, our precious hemp flowers undergo a slow drying and curing stage. Branches of each plant are carefully hung upside down, one by one, on ropes spanning a dark and well-ventilated drying space. This critical phase helps preserve the plant’s unique terpene profile and maximizes the potency of the cannabinoids within.
Once this stage is complete, our harvest embarks on the next leg of its journey, heading to our trusted extraction processor, where it’s skillfully transformed into extracts for our range of tinctures, salves, and more.
