Important Update: After many years serving this community, we will be sunsetting Northwoods Botanicals this summer due to changing hemp regulations. Products will remain available while supplies last through July 31, 2026. Read more about our decision here.

Sunset for Northwoods Botanicals

After many meaningful years sharing our farm’s full-spectrum hemp products with this community, we want to announce an important update:

Northwoods Botanicals will be concluding product sales this year.

You still have plenty of time to place orders (while supplies last), before our final sales date of July 31, 2026.

Our decision wasn’t made lightly. It reflects the increasingly complex and uncertain regulatory landscape surrounding hemp products in the United States — particularly federal changes scheduled to take effect in November 2026 that are expected to effectively outlaw full-spectrum hemp products like those we produce.

While this isn’t the news we had hoped to share, we want to take a moment to sincerely thank you. Your support has fueled us, and it’s been an honor to provide you all with high-quality, authentic, farm-crafted cannabinoid products.

For those who would like more context and details, we want to share a bit more of the story behind this decision and invite you to please keep reading…

Thank You for Being Part of this Journey

The 2018 US Farm Bill removed hemp from the list of controlled substances and opened the door for a new generation of hemp-derived products and commercial farming across the country.

Like many other farmers across the country, we were excited. For us it was less about chasing the “green wave,” and more about uplifting the healing properties of this stigmatized plant, and providing natural alternatives to responsible adults in a world dominated by pharmaceutical solutions.

When we planted our first hemp crop in 2019, we had no idea where this path would lead.

We officially launched our Northwoods Botanicals line of farm-to-bottle products in February of 2020 — only a week or two before COVID lockdowns began across the country. It was certainly an interesting time to start a business, but we remained persistent and dedicated to our vision.

Over the years since then we’ve had the privilege of connecting with thousands of customers through:

  • farmers markets and festivals
  • events and on-farm tours
  • phone calls, emails, and online orders
  • and through more than 30 retail partners across Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota

Since day one, our focus has been on integrity, maintaining high standards, and operating responsibly. We preemptively adopted best practices when other companies weren’t, like third-party lab testing, clear labeling, child-resistant packaging, age restrictions (21+), and avoiding synthetic cannabinoids. We’ve listened closely to your feedback and tried to continuously improve the products we offer.

But perhaps the most meaningful part of this journey has been hearing your stories.

So many of you have shared personal experiences about how these products have supported your daily wellness routines, and how our tinctures have helped your dogs and cats through difficult moments. Those messages and conversations have been incredibly motivating for us and helped sustain our work through many long days and challenging seasons.

It has truly been an honor to be a small part of your everyday lives and we thank you.

Brand Sunset, But Sales Continue for Now!

As we’ve shared before, a federal provision set to take effect on November 12, 2026 will redefine hemp in the U.S. and set a THC limit so low that even many full-spectrum CBD and CBG products (like what we offer) could be restricted. We explore the details and potential impacts on customers and farmers in our blog article here.

Given the regulatory direction things appear to be heading, rather than navigate a future that may not align with the values and standards we’ve always upheld, we’ve decided the most responsible path forward is to sunset the hemp side of our farm business this year and bring this chapter to a thoughtful close.

To allow customers adequate time to purchase and use products within the existing regulatory framework, we have set a final order date of July 31, 2026. Orders placed by that date will be fulfilled while inventory lasts. We chose this date intentionally to ensure customers still have adequate time to consume their products within the current regulatory framework, since it remains unclear what the landscape will look like after this November.

For the next several months:

  • Our products will continue to be available through our website and select stores.
  • We are currently well stocked, though some items may sell out earlier than others.
  • Once certain batches sell through, we may not be able to replenish them.

On the website you may also see a low-stock indicator once quantities drop below 10 units. If there are products you’ve come to rely on, we encourage you to order earlier rather than later to ensure availability.

As We Wind Down…

Over the coming months we’ll continue to keep you informed with updates via our e-newsletter such as:

  • reminders as we approach the final order date
  • any special upcoming sales, like our popular annual Earth Day sale
  • updates about inventory availability
  • advocacy opportunities related to hemp policy

We are not closing tomorrow and look forward to continuing to serve you during this final season!

Thank you for trusting us. Thank you for sharing your experiences. And thank you for being part of our Northwoods Botanicals story.
